Jackson’s chimp Bubbles enjoys life out of public eye

Bubbles gained fame over two decades ago as Michael Jackson’s simian companion. Now at age 26, Bubbles has retired to the Center for Great Apes outside Wauchula, Florida. When Bubbles was 5 years old, he and Jackson toured Japan, where the chimp moonwalked for the media.

Doctors weigh chimp victim’s course of treatment

A team of doctors at the Cleveland Clinic will spend as much as a week determining how they will treat a woman mauled by a chimpanzee, and whether they will consider offering her a face transplant. Charla Nash, 55, was in critical but stable condition Friday with “severe trauma to her face, scalp and hands” at the clinic, Dr. Daniel Alam, a facial and plastic and reconstructive surgeon, said in a written statement

At least 27 dead in Pakistan suicide bombing

Police moved to dissipate possible sectarian violence after a suicide bombing in the middle of a Shia funeral procession killed at least 27 people and injured 75 others in Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province Friday morning, police said. Victim of chimp attack in ‘critical but stable’ condition

Seven hours of surgery and four teams of surgeons were needed to stabilize a Connecticut woman attacked by a pet chimpanzee, doctors at Stamford Hospital said Wednesday.
