Bill Murray crashes stag do

Elusive actor Bill Murray has advised people to travel the world with their partner before getting married.

The 63-year-old actor is known for telling long, meandering, stories and didn’t disappoint when he crashed a bachelor party over the weekend.

Groom-to-be EJ Rumpke was celebrating his impending nuptials at a restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina, when members of his group realised Murray was there too.

They tried to send him some drinks but he refused them, following up with some words of advice for the man and his fiancee.

“You know how funerals are not for the dead, they’re for the living

“Bachelor parties are not for the groom, they’re for the uncommitted,” he said.

“If you have someone who you think is the one, don’t just sort of think in your ordinary mind, OK let’s make a date, let’s plan this and make a party and get married, take that person and travel with them around the world.”

The moment was caught on video, which was then sent to website Deadspin.

Murray explained exactly why he thought touring the globe with a prospective life partner is so important.

“Buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel all around the world, and go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of.

“And if when you come back to JFK (airport in New York), when you land in JFK and you still love that person, get married at the airport,” he added.

The comedian then lifted the groom on to his shoulders.

The video has also been posted on Facebook, where one of the party stated that hearing the speech had made his life complete.

Murray has been married twice, to Margaret Kelly and Jennifer Butler.

Kim Kardashian wedding dress revealed

Kim Kardashian has unveiled her much-anticipated wedding dress.

And the verdict is – it’s breathtaking!

The television diva tied the knot with rapper Kanye West in a lavish ceremony in Florence, Italy at the weekend. They said their “I do’s” at the Forte di Belvedere surrounded by family and friends.

Kardashian has now uploaded select pictures to her Instagram account, sharing with fans intimate moments from her special day.

In the first she can be seen walking down the aisle, holding Kanye’s hand. She has captioned the shot “Mr & Mrs Kanye West”.

In the background Kardashian’s mum Kris is holding the couple’s baby, North West – and the tot is smiling at her parents.

The next photo sees Kardashian and West sharing their first kiss as a married couple.

Hollywood Life said the bride looked “simply breathtaking”.

Fashionista wrote “Even after all of the hype, we have to say we’re blown away at how gorgeous Kardashian’s gown is.”

The Guardian reported that Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci – a friend of Wests – designed the dress, which featured long lace sleeves, a diamond-shaped cut-out bodice and a very, very big veil.

“Despite all this, the look actually managed to be quite understated (for Kim, anyway).

“The Guardian fashion verdict is: The Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress, plus sex appeal and a mosquito net. That’s a good thing, btw.”

The wedding was one of the most hotly anticipated in the showbiz world. Celebrity guests included singer John Legend and his model wife Chrissy Teigen, and designer Rachel Roy.

Kardashian’s famous family, including sisters Kourtney and Khloe were all there, though her brother Rob was notably absent.

At the reception West is thought to have made a speech where he declared he was now a Kardashian.

“It’s amazing to look around this room. There are so many talented people. F*** y’all, I’m a Kardashian!” The Sun reported the rapper as saying.

Reality TV normalises narcissism: expert

Reality TV is producing a whole generation of narcissists, a researcher says.

Dr Jean Twenge, who co-authored The Narcissism Epidemic: Living in the Age of Entitlement, will speak about the normalisation of narcissism at the Happiness conference in Sydney this week.

Twenge says the plethora of reality shows is changing the way people think.

“It has a bigger than average effect on the culture because the shows are very popular,” the San Diego State University Professor of Psychology told AAP.

“They are supposed to show real life and what they actually are is a showcase for narcissistic people and behaviours. They make narcissism seem normal.”

Shows like The Voice, The X-Factor and Big Brother also foster the belief that being narcissistic will help you succeed.

However, research has shown that isn’t necessarily the case.

“It is good for public performance, and probably good for reality TV at least in the short term, but in the long term that personality type doesn’t get along very well with other people and so it actually doesn’t work out very well.

“Most the time they (Narcissists) take too many risks, they’re not aware of their own limitations and much of the time their performance is worse than other people who are not as narcissistic.”

She says reality shows also create a perception that becoming famous is easy and that it’s just out of reach, Twenge says.

“This is a very frustrating position to be in because although there may be more opportunities now to be discovered it doesn’t mean you have substantially more people who are famous and earn a lot of money.

It’s still a very, very small percentage of people who become successful as a musician or movie star.”

Twenge says caution also needs to be exercised when it comes reality shows involving children.

“If it’s going to give young children the idea, first that fame is the number one goal in life and second that’s its easy to achieve, that would be problematic,” she says.

Twenge will release an updated edition of her book Generation Me in October.

Kidman didn’t stand a chance as Grace

It’s true that Nicole Kidman doesn’t fare too well playing Hollywood (and actual) royalty in Grace of Monaco.

But really, she didn’t stand a chance.

Similar to Naomi Watts in the abysmal Diana, Kidman signed onto a film filled with wooden, clunky dialogue. Add to that, its frustratingly messy direction and sweeping, distracting score and Grace of Monaco comes across as a poor melodrama instead of a gripping political tale.

As most are aware, Grace Kelly was a Hollywood actress-turned-princess who married Monaco’s Prince Rainier III (played by Tim Roth) in 1956.

Her life came to a tragic end in a car crash in 1982, but this is not mentioned in the film, which instead concentrates on a specific period in the early 1960s.

Grace of Monaco tells of the “truth” behind the fairytale, that Kelly was having marriage trouble and considering returning to Hollywood to appear in a new Hitchcock film, Marnie. Meanwhile, political tensions between France and Monaco were reaching breaking point.

Princess Grace’s three children by Rainier have denounced the film as “needlessly glamourised” and “riddled” with inaccuracies and fiction.

Perhaps in response, a title appears in the opening of the film stating it is a fictional account inspired by real events.

Directed by Olivier Dahan and written by Arash Amel, this is one big mess. The direction by Dahan, who helmed La Vie en Rose, feels awkward and all over the place, with annoying wavering close-ups and baffling unnecessary shots.

What’s more, you just don’t care about any of the characters.

Scenes that are meant to be emotionally rousing, are instead just puzzling or unintentionally funny.

Frank Langella comes off best as a priest and Grace’s confidante, but others, such as Parker Posey’s dour lady in waiting or Roger Ashton Griffiths as Alfred Hitchcock, don’t feel at all realistic. Nor do the plot’s schemes or betrayals.

This is definitely not Kidman’s best role. While the costumes are lovely, her breathy, teary portrayal is neither credible, nor transformative.

Grace of Monaco held a lot of potential. It could have been an intriguing portrayal of the life and politics surrounding the iconic Hollywood princess. But this cheesy film never manages to achieve such heights.

* Grace of Monaco is released in New Zealand tomorrow.

Mayweather and rapper T.I. scrap at Fatburger

A chair-tossing brawl erupted between professional boxer Floyd Mayweather and rap musician T.I. in a Las Vegas fast food restaurant in the wee hours of Sunday morning – perhaps not surprisingly, over a lady.

Mayweather was eating inside the Fatburger restaurant on the Vegas Strip when T.I. walked in and confronted him about some photos posted on Instagram.

Earlier in the day, T.I.’s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris posted a photo to the site of herself with Mayweather’s teenage daughter.

Mayweather responded by telling T.I. to “control your bitch”.

T.I. reportedly took a swing at Mayweather and then the chairs started to fly.

The pair apparently have a history of arguing over T.I.’s wife, who was also photographed at Mayweather’s fight earlier this month.

Mayweather has since apologised for referring to Tiny as a bitch.

“I don’t want to say that about Tiny,” he said.

“So I do apologise to Tiny because she cool people. She never been disrespectful to me.”

A Fatburger employee was reportedly slashed during the fight, but refused medical treatment and would not cooperate with investigating officers.

One Fatburger diner posted video of the Fatburger brawl on Instagram:

Duchess of Cambridge in another privacy scandal

The Duchess of Cambridge faces yet another privacy scandal, after a German tabloid published a picture of her naked bottom.

The photograph was taken as wind from helicopter blades lifted up the Duchess’ skirt. The incident occurred in the Blue Mountains on the royal tour of Australia, but at the time British tabloids refused to print the photograph.

However, Bild was more than happy to publish the embarrassing picture. It used the image to create an article about the hot bums of summer, and to thank the helicopter for providing the wind to let us get a clear view of Kate’s ”beautiful bum”.

The photograph was published alongside two other famous derrieres – those of Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe.

In the photo gallery accompanying the Duchess’ image are photos of other ladies’ behinds, Kate being the only royal in the mix.

This is not the first time a photo of Kate has lead to the media finding themselves in hot water with the royals. Even Australian magazines managed to get caught up in royal scandal.

Australia’s Woman’s Day drew condemnation from the Palace when it said it would publish pictures in February this year of a pregnant Kate in a bikini.

Italian magazine Chi also published the images, which showed the pregnant royal splashing about in a blue bikini, taken while the Duke and Duchess were on holiday.

Woman’s Day’s editor said the photos were taken on a public beach and therefore it was acceptable to print them. Editor Fiona Connolly told the Herald Sun that Australians aren’t as sensitive about the royals as the British, and photographs of people in bikinis are just part of everyday life.

Yet the couple were actually on the island of Mustique, where privacy is so valued that the paparazzi are banned.

St James Palace expressed disappointment that the images would be published overseas. The palace said in a statement that the photographs were a ”clear breach of the couple’s right to privacy”.

In 2012 the French magazine Closer published photographs of the Duchess sunbathing topless at a private resort.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sued the magazine for what they described as a ”grotesque” and ”unjustifiable” act, hoping to stop the publication from the revealing images. In an angry statement the Palace said the photographs were similar to the ”worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana”.

The magazine’s editor was unrepentant, saying the resort’s pool was in full view of a public road and easily seen by the public. However, Chateau d’Autet has a secluded woodland setting, and is hundreds of metres from the closest public road – so the royals were in
