Some city officials in China have already apologized to a woman for forcing her to have an abortion after the six month deadline. Three of the country’s family planning officials have been terminated as China probed deeper into this investigation.

Photos have been released and are making their way around the internet of Feng Jianmei laying with her aborted child.

On June 2, 2012, while Jianmei’s husband was at work, family planning officials burst into the 23-year-old’s home. She was pregnant with a second child and her family did not have the 40,000-yuan fine required to have a second child. She was forced from her home to a family planning center and given an abortion, even though China’s laws regarding this matter say that abortions are not to be preformed after the fetus is 6 months old.

Photo’s of the young woman laying next to the fetus have been released, some are saying as a warning to other women to attempt to break the one-child limit law.

On Wednesday Feng’s husband, Deng Jiyuan, told the Global Times that “The county government detained my wife in a rented house on May 30. She almost killed herself out of panic.” He went on to say ” five men forcibly gave Feng a poisonous injection three days later after blindfolding her and forcing her to sign an agreement on the abortion.”

The photos released to the internet has brought attention to this story, which is now causing an international outrage. An officer surnamed Qin told the press “We’re trying to get the whole story. If it’s true, local family planning authorities will surely be punished severely.”
