Womad stage schedule released

Like an amazing game of Jenga the stage schedule for this year’s music festival Womad has been put together.

Kicking things off on Friday will be a very special performance from Nga Tatarakihi o Parihaka (Children of Parihaka) with Tim Finn on the TSB Bowl stage.

Followed by the smooth sounds from India’s Asif Ali Khan, Tunisia’s Emel Mathlouthi, Hawaii’s Makana and France’s Dub Inc turn the heat up at the Nova Energy Taste the World Stage.

Music from another five countries then leads towards the Friday night zenith of the much-anticipated performance from Kimbra.

The weekend’s schedule is then punctuated by performances from well-known artists Femi Kuti on Saturday night and Arrested Development on Sunday evening.

A new addition to the schedule is Boomerang: Indigenous cultures from the Commonwealth come together to explore links between Celtic, Aboriginal and Maori cultures, through language, contemporary music and dance.

Womad New Zealand is on at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands from March 14-16, 2014. Tickets are available from www.womad.co.nz.
