Westenra a beautiful bride

Kiwi singer Hayley Westenra married her true love after walking down the aisle over a path of rose petals.

Westenra, 26, married Frenchman Arnaud Sabard, 34, in front of 93 guests at Hawarden’s Flaxmere Gardens in North Canterbury on December 29.

Secrecy surrounded the wedding after the pair signed an exclusive deal with the magazine Woman’s Day.

Last Thursday Westenra’s father, Gerald, would not confirm his daughter had married.

“[The wedding] is getting close, but it hasn’t happened yet,” he said.

That proved to be untrue as photos and fuller details of the wedding, held four days before the denial, have been published today.

The bridal party included Westenra’s younger sister Sophie and long-time friend Sophie Brinkers as bridesmaids, Woman’s Day said.

Westenra wore a lace ivory gown designed by Louise Anderson of Christchurch, an embroidered veil and pale pink Dior shoes.

The singer told the magazine that during the ceremony: ”I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but I concentrated on Arnaud’s face and looking at him made me smile.”

Other details included that the guests ate Akaroa salmon and New Zealand lamb cutlets, with fruit cake and lemon tiers covered in pink icing for dessert.
