Pauper’s grave could be UGA professor’s final resting place

The body of accused triple killer and University of Georgia professor George Zinkhan could be headed to a pauper’s grave if the family doesn’t claim his remains in the next day, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Friday. Almost a week after authorities found Zinkhan’s body in a self-dug shallow grave, no one has stepped forward to claim his remains, GBI spokesman John Bankhead said. It is the family’s responsibility to tell the coroner how they want the body handled.

UGA prof dug grave, shot himself in head, police say

A wanted University of Georgia professor killed himself with a single gunshot to the head after he dug his own grave and covered it with brush, police said Tuesday. The manhunt for George Zinkhan ended Saturday when cadaver dogs discovered his body in Georgia’s Clarke County, about a mile from where his red Jeep Liberty was found more than a week earlier, police said. “Zinkhan’s body was found in a small dugout area in the ground, covered with leaves and debris, and it was apparent that he took significant steps to try to conceal his body from being located,” a statement from Athens police said

Professor sought after 3 shot dead near UGA

Police are looking for a University of Georgia professor in the shooting deaths of three people on Saturday, authorities tell CNN. Sonny Wilson, Athens-Clarke County coroner, confirmed three people were dead, but couldn’t provide identities. UGA is in Athens, but university spokesman Pete Konenkamp said the shootings did not happen on campus.

Police: Husband saw wife with another man before killing kids

A father who shot and killed his five children in their Washington state home before killing himself had argued with his wife over another man before the shootings, police said.
