Myanmar refugees flood into China

Thousands of refugees from Myanmar poured across the border into southern China at the end of the week to escape fighting there, a provincial official told CNN Friday. Tsunami watch issued after Indian Ocean quake

Suspect in ship hijacking charged with piracy

A Somali suspect in the hijacking of the U.S.-flagged Maersk Alabama last month has been indicted on 10 counts including piracy, hostage-taking and firearms charges, officials said Tuesday. Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse faces life in prison if convicted of eight of the 10 counts, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York said.

Pirates hijack UK-owned ship in Indian Ocean

Pirates hijacked a British-owned bulk carrier Saturday in the Indian Ocean, but NATO forces stopped an attack on another vessel in the Gulf of Aden hours earlier, NATO maritime authorities said. The UK cargo ship, the MV Ariana, was carrying 35,000 tons of soya about 250 nautical miles (287 miles) northwest of the Seychelles when it was seized around dawn.
