Facebook sued over Eminem song

Eminem’s song publisher is suing Facebook and an ad agency, saying they copied music from one of the rapper’s songs. Eight Mile Style filed a federal lawsuit in Detroit on Monday alleging that a 30-second Facebook ad broadcast online last month copied music from Eminem’s 2000 song Under the Influence.

Bieber abandons monkey friend

While Justin Bieber has apparently rekindled his romance with Selena Gomez, he has abandoned his pet monkey Mally in Germany. Mally, a 17-week-old capuchin monkey, was seized by customs authorities on March 28 when Bieber failed to produce the required papers after landing in Munich while on tour.

Ruling Halts Federal Funding of Embryonic-Stem-Cell Research

A year and a half after President Obama loosened restrictions on government funding of human-embryonic-stem-cell research, a federal judge on Monday, Aug. 23, declared all such studies temporarily off-limits for taxpayer dollars, on the grounds that they violate a 1996 law.

By the time President Obama sat down with House Republicans on June 1 to talk about the exploding public debt, the economic data had been grim for days: another decline in home values, a new dip in consumer confidence and, just that morning, the lowest manufacturing-sector growth rate in more than a year and a dismal payroll report showing job growth far below expectations. In another era, these sorts of numbers would have led to a predictable chain of events for either a Republican or a Democratic President: rush to the cameras, empathize with those suffering the pain and declare that help is on the way.
