Police: ‘No known suspects’ in 8 Georgia deaths

Authorities believe at least one person not in custody may have information about the deaths of eight people in a Georgia mobile home, Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said Sunday. “I’m confident to say that there’s somebody, at least an individual, that we would like to know about that’s not at the scene,” whether or not they were directly involved in the case, Doering said. Schwarzenegger, lawmakers reach agreement on budget

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and California legislators announced a tentative deal to eliminate a $26 billion deficit Monday evening, with state agencies looking at billions of dollars in cuts as part of the plan. Schwarzenegger said the “basic agreement” includes no tax increases, which his fellow Republicans in the state Assembly and Senate had refused to support.

Students collect 8.5 million pennies to form 100-mile chain

Students in Southern California were laying out some 8.5 million pennies at a speedway track Wednesday, trying to set a world record with a 100-mile-long penny chain and help a school program at the same time. The money, about $84,500, will go to a program called THINK (Teaching, Helping, Inspiring & Nurturing Kids) Together.
