Sex tape backlash disgusts Teuila Blakely

Shortland street actress Teuila Blakely is disgusted by the Pacific community’s backlash following the leak of a sex tape on social media.

The video, showing Blakely engaging in a sexual act with Warriors player Konrad Hurrell, was widely shared on social media service Instagram.

It has since been deleted after its initial debut two weeks ago.

The death threats and abuse Blakely received because of the tape has largely come from what she calls a ”conservative” Pacific community.

“The subject of sex in Pacific Island communities has a sense of shame with it particularly regarding women,” Blakely told TV One’s Tagata Pasifika this morning.

“I feel like what has interested the Pacific public (in this story) is the fact they have an opportunity to shame a woman for being sexual.”

Blakely says the effect of the community’s shame on her family has been the hardest thing to deal with and she would never judge another woman for her sexual choices.
