Retirement home meets Hollywood

A German retirement home has released a calendar where seniors re-create iconic movie scenes.

The 75-98 year old models posed as James Dean, Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn.

“It was great fun” Walter Loeser from the Western German city of Essen said, as well as a welcome relief from every day life.

The 98-year-old posed as Billy from the movie Easy Rider.

“The whole attire, clad completely in leather with fringes . . . I felt like a macho,” he told German magazine Spiegel Online.

And the ladies on set were impressed. One woman told him her parents had always warned her of men like him.

A little bit of trickery was applied for some of the shots.

“I am not that strong anymore that I can lift the lady over my head,” said 92-year-old Johann Liedtke, who took on Patrick Swayze’s role in Dirty Dancing.

“Back in the days when I was young, it would have been easy. But today the computer helps us out.”

The retirement home engaged a photographer and a stylist and got the outfits from a costume hire firm.

Although they made their elderly models look like Hollywood stars they made sure that their scars and wrinkles would still be visible.

The calendar with the title “Classics 5000” had a 5000 print run and was given as presents to the residents of the The Contilia Retirement Group, employees and their families.
