Kelly Clarkson’s Christmas baby wish has come true.
The 31-year-old singer announced via Twitter on Tuesday she’s expecting her first child with husband Brandon Blackstock.
“I’m pregnant!!! Brandon and I are so excited. Best early Christmas present ever ,” she wrote.
Clarkson and Blackstock eloped to Tennessee and exchanged vows on October 21.
Blackstock, the son of Kelly’s manager Narvel Blackstock, has two children from a previous marriage, Savannah, 11, and Seth, seven, according to Radar Online.
Clarkson hasn’t shared details about when the baby is due.
Last week the American Idol singer appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, spilling the beans on her and husband Brandon Blackstock’s plans to become parents.
When asked if she was already expecting, Clarkson responded: “We aren’t announcing anything right now! We’re not, no, but practice makes perfect! We’re trying, trying, trying … like rabbits!”
But the star has been candid about the couple’s attempts to start a family, revealing last month getting pregnant was at the top of her Christmas list.
“Everybody keeps saying, ‘What do you want for Christmas’ And I’m like, ‘I want to be pregnant.’ I want babies, yep! I do,” she told radio host Sean Valentine.
She spoke openly during an interview for radio show Valentine In The Morning while promoting her new Christmas album Wrapped in Red.
The Since U Been Gone hitmaker said it was her role as a stepmother to Brandon’s children that convinced her she wanted a family.
“I honestly never ever used to want kids because I’m kind of selfish with my career, but going to soccer games with Seth and doing homework with Savannah – I just really love it y’all.
“It’s so cool. It sounds so cheesy but it’s such a bigger point to life. I really lucked out with the whole kid situation. They’re amazing,” she gushed.
