A glimpse into rock heaven

Music fans have been given a glimpse into rock ‘n’ roll heaven – and it’s not pretty.

An American media company teamed up with photo manipulation experts to create images showing what dead rock stars would look like if they were still alive today.

The project, organised by Sachs Media Group and photo restoration company Phojoe, is described as “a heartfelt tribute to the memory of beloved artists who helped shape generations of music fans, in order to keep their memory alive for future generations”.

Among those featured are notable members of the “27 Club” – musicians who died at the age of 27 – Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison.

John Lennon, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley also appear.

Cobain is pictured at age 46 with a few wrinkles and some questionable facial hair, but still manages to rock the classic 90s plaid shirt.

Marley, at age 68, retains his trademark, albeit slightly greying, dreadlocks.

The pictures are also captioned with expert insights from musicologists about what the iconic rockers might have been up to in 2013.

Lennon “would have been likely to continue his social activism with more focus”, while Elvis might have won a new following of young hipsters with more stripped-down albums.

A Bob Marley/Kanye West collaboration may have even been on the cards, it was predicted.
