Two EMAs for One Direction

One Direction are an English-Irish boy band formed in London in 2010, consisting of members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson

The lads scored a hat trick at the VMAs earlier in the year and yesterday they were presented with gongs for “Best New Act” and “Biggest Fans” at the MTV European Music Award Ceremony in Frankfurt.

Continuing to make 2012 a massively successful year for One Direction, the pop group picked up two awards on Sunday at MTV’s European Music Awards (EMAs) in Frankfurt, Germany.

The lads – Niall, Harry, Liam, Zayn and Louis – won the ‘Best New’ award and unsurprisingly the ‘Best Fans’ award. No doubt that ‘Directioners’ worldwide were celebrating their beloved 1D’s wins!

Other awards went to Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and Nicki Minaj. Muse, Taylor Swift, and The Killers among others performed at the star-studded awards show.

Following the awards on Sunday, Mullingar native Niall Horan (@NiallOfficial) tweeted: “Wow I can’t believe it! We won 2 awards at the EMA ! Thank you soo much for voting for us! We are buzzing”
