‘There’s nothing North of North’

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reportedly named their daughter North because they see it as a metaphor for “up”.

The high-profile pair welcomed their first child together earlier this month at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills.

Speculation was rife Kardashian and West named their daughter North West after a position on the horizon, but a source has now revealed that their choice of moniker wasn’t inspired by a point on a compass.

“They chose the name North because they see it as a metaphor for ‘up’. [They’ve been] telling friends, ‘What’s North of North Nothing,'” a source told TMZ.

The US website also writes that Kardashian and West believe North is “their highest point together as a couple and the pinnacle of the relationship”.

“They consider her their ‘North Star,'” the source added.

Details about the birth have been scare. However a source has now revealed the baby weighed in at 4 pounds, 15 ounces at birth.”She’s tiny and perfect,” another insider told US Weekly. “She looks just like Kim – with her dark hair and some of her features.”

Neither Kardashian nor West have been seen publically since she arrived on June 15, but rapper West is tipped to make a red carpet appearance on Thursday.

The Daily Mail reports that the hip-hop star is expected to attend True Magazine’s birthday party in Los Angeles with his friend Jay-Z later this week – his first outing since becoming a father.

West recently released his new album Yeezus, but is said to have put his busy schedule on hold in favour of spending time with his new family.

It was reported that Kim’s mother Kris Jenner listened to West’s new chart offering while he was still working on the album in Paris.

According to W magazine, West played a track called Awesome for the momager, which is inspired by her daughter. However Kanye reportedly wasn’t impressed when Jenner chimed: “Great job!” after he’d played the track.

In the profile, West also revealed how he felt about appearing on his reality TV star girlfriend’s famous E! series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

“Oh, that’s just all for love. It’s simply that,” he said. “At a certain point, or always, love is more important than any branding, or any set of cool people, or attempting to impress anyone. Because true love is just the way you feel.

“Thoughts and feelings can disagree sometimes.”
