Ted Kennedy: The Lessons of His Dying

Natural death did not come naturally to the Kennedy family. Two siblings brought down in flight; two others slain. But now two more siblings have modeled the death that most Americans say they want and fear they’ll miss; both Edward Kennedy and his sister Eunice died within weeks of each other, at home, at peace, surrounded by family, after a race well run

Holbrooke: Persian Gulf oil money fuels Taliban insurgencies

America’s top diplomat for Afghanistan and Pakistan says the deadly Taliban insurgency in those countries relies heavily on funding from the oil-rich Persian Gulf. With the Mya’s blue hull moving at a good clip, Kennedy turned to his old friend with reminiscences of failed campaigns past: Kennedy’s bid for the presidency in 1980 and Kerry’s in 2004.

Hairy Heroes: Canine Lifeguards Hit Italy’s Beaches

The dog days of summer have hit Italy hard this year. For my own family beach holiday on the enchanting island of Sardinia, the surprise star was Totò, a pint-sized, black-and-white, eight-month-old mixed-breed from Naples who our friends brought along in a house we shared near the southern town of Pula

The new Italian Serie A season kicks off with the first round of fixtures this weekend – Fanzone details what to expect from the forthcoming campaign: Key players: The arrivals of Eto’o and Diego Milito have grabbed all of the headlines for Inter, but it could well be 19-year-old striker Mario Balotelli who will provide the firepower for Inter’s title defense after showing signs of his huge potential last season. Kaka’s departure has left a void at AC Milan so a big season is needed from heir-apparent Alexandre Pato while Marco Borriello will hope to overcome last season’s injury problems to establish in attack
