British soprano Sarah Brightman plans to sing among the stars – literally. The classical soprano hailed for her role as Christine Daae in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s London production of Phantom of The Opera will be the first recording artist to make a trip into space, planned for 2015

Libya Rebels Want Arms, Money to Defeat Gaddafi Forces

On Wednesday, when asked why the Libyan rebels were retreating, one of their spokesmen, Colonel Ahmed Bany, said archly, “You are obviously well aware of the difference between a tank and a Kalashnikov.” It could be the difference between victory and defeat. The rebels have repeatedly emphasized their relative hopelessness in squaring off against Muammar Gaddafi’s forces, using only an apparently large supply of light arms, including AK-47s, machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.

Somalia parliament votes in Sharia law

Somalia’s transitional federal parliament has unanimously backed the introduction of Islamic Sharia law in the country after a vote over the issue was brought to parliamentarians Saturday. In an announcement on state-run television, the country said it was ready to step up efforts to develop nuclear weapons and poised for a military response to any moves against it. “The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK are always keeping themselves fully ready to go into action any moment to mercilessly punish anyone who encroaches upon the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK even a bit,” it said
