Memorial service set for slain 8-year-old girl

Eight-year-old Sandra Cantu will be remembered at a memorial service Thursday in the central California community where she lived and was later found dead. The girl, who police say died at the hands of a Sunday school teacher, was last seen alive March 27 in the mobile home park where she lived with her family in Tracy, California. Police found her body April 6, stuffed into a suitcase and submerged in a pond at a dairy farm in the area.

Natasha Richardson, a film star, Tony-winning stage actress and member of the famed Redgrave acting family, died Wednesday after suffering injuries in a ski accident, according to a family statement. She was 45. Richardson, wife of actor Liam Neeson, was injured Monday in a fall on a ski slope at a Quebec resort about 80 miles northwest of Montreal

Natasha Richardson, who is hospitalized in New York following a Quebec ski accident Monday, comes from an illustrious British acting family — one whose name she’s often found a challenge. Richardson, the daughter of Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late director Tony Richardson (“Look Back in Anger,” “Tom Jones”), has said, more than once, that she found it difficult to live up to the family reputation. “The names Richardson or Redgrave didn’t help,” she told About.com’s Rebecca Murray in 2007.
