Conan O’Brien squabbles with New Jersey mayor

As with many jokes, it started with a small jab at the expense of New Jersey. The gags continued Monday night when “Tonight Show” host Conan O’Brien ventured into “the biggest scandal in the country that’s now involving a late-night host.” O’Brien was, of course, referring to his continuing comical conflict with the city of Newark, New Jersey, and its mayor, Cory Booker.

Method Man arrested on $33K tax charge

Rapper and actor Clifford Smith, better known to fans as Method Man, was arrested Monday and faces charges of failing to pay taxes, the district attorney in Richmond County, New York, said. Smith, 38, owes the state nearly $33,000 for New York State income tax returns that he did not file between 2004 and 2007, district attorney Daniel Donovan Jr.

Drug overdose killed DJ AM, official says

Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein’s death last month was an accident caused by “acute intoxication” from a combination of cocaine and prescription drugs, the New York medical examiner said Tuesday. Goldstein’s body was found August 28 in his New York apartment with a crack pipe nearby and a half bag of crack cocaine and prescription drugs in the home, a police source told People.com.
