Philippines pays reward in militant’s arrest

Police in the Philippines have paid an informant in the arrest of a militant tied to the kidnapping of four Americans and dozens of Filipinos. Hajer Adjuan Sailani, who also goes by the name Abu Ajair, was captured last week in a mall in Cotabato City, the Philippine National Police said Tuesday.

Ousted Honduran president arrives at border

Ousted Honduran President Jose Manuel Zelaya stood a mere feet from his country’s border Friday afternoon, surrounded by supporters as he attempted to fulfill a vow to return nearly a month after being removed by a military-led coup. Zelaya stopped about 100 yards short of the border and sat in his vehicle for several minutes under a strong rainstorm.

Police may have found Jakarta bomber’s laptop

Indonesian police have recovered a laptop that they believe belonged to one of the bombers of Friday’s twin hotel attacks in Jakarta, the country’s official news agency said Sunday. The laptop contained information and codes that the attackers may have used to communicate with each other, the state-run Antara News Agency said.
