Ahmadinejad: Iran ready for nuclear cooperation

Iran’s hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad struck a rare conciliatory note Thursday, saying that the Islamic republic was ready for nuclear cooperation with Western powers. “We welcome the exchange of fuel, technical cooperation and construction of power plants and reactors and we are prepared to cooperate (in those areas),” he said.

British MP cut adrift over $24,000 expense claim

Britain’s ruling Labour Party cut ties Thursday with a top member of parliament who admitted guilt in an escalating parliamentary expenses scandal. Lawmaker Elliot Morley was suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party, a party spokesman told CNN. It means he retains his parliamentary seat but is stripped of his party affiliation.
