Country music star Randy Travis suffered a stroke while at a Texas hospital and was in surgery late Wednesday (Thursday, NZ time) , the singer’s publicist said. Publicist Kirt Webster said that the 54-year-old Travis suffered the stroke while he was being treated for congestive heart failure because of a viral illness

Randy Travis remains in critical condition

Country singer Randy Travis remains in critical condition in a Texas hospital after doctors inserted a device to stabilise his weakened heart. Travis’ publicist, Kirt Webster, said in a news release Tuesday that the singer underwent the procedure after checking into the hospital Sunday with viral cardiomyopathy, a heart condition caused by a virus.

M*A*S*H actor Allan Arbus dies

Actor Allan Arbus, best known for his role as Army psychiatrist Sidney Freedman on the 1970s hit television series “M*A*S*H” and as the husband of the late photographer Diane Arbus, has died at the age of 95. Arbus, who gave up his photography for acting, passed away from congestive heart failure at his home in Los Angeles on Friday, his second wife Mariclare Costello Arbus told Reuters.
