Album review: Sonido de LatinAotearoa

SONIDO DE LATINAOTEAROA LatinAotearoa (Rhythmethod) It’s doubtful the creative catalysts behind LatinAotearoa – DJ Bobby Brazuka, Jennifer Zea and Isaac Aesili – could have made such a magical album on their own but together, well, they’re a funky and sensual force of nature. The title shouldn’t be misconstrued as a Kiwi take on Latin music – Zea is originally from Venezuela and Brazuka from Chile while Aesili is homegrown – but it was brewed here and features an extraordinary Spanish version of Ladi6’s Walk Right Up.

DiCaprio film nothing if not stylish

A tour of the set at Sydney’s Fox Studios during production showed Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby will be nothing if not stylish, with a lavishly detailed mansion and the famous pier in the vast sound stages, colourful period cars and beautifully crafted costumes for the cast and hundreds of extras. All suggested the re-creation of 1920s New York will be as impressive as the version of historic Paris in Moulin Rouge, which Luhrmann and his creative partner and wife, designer Catherine Martin, also shot in Sydney

Matrix creators making scifi series

Netflix is teaming up with the creative force behind The Matrix action movie franchise for a new science fiction series that will be available only to subscribers of the video streaming service. Sense8, a 10-episode series described as a tale of minds linked and souls hunted, will debut on Netflix in late 2014, Netflix said in a statement.
