Bedingfield misses NZ On Air grant
X Factor judge and multi-platinum selling pop star Daniel Bedingfield has failed for a second time in his bid for taxpayer cash to promote his latest song. Bedingfield had applied for a $6000 grant from the July round of New Zealand On Air’s “Making tracks” funding to produce a video for his song Out Of My Head.

TVNZ snatches rights for Home And Away
TVNZ has snapped the broadcast rights to long-running soap Home and Away from TV3, whose owner MediaWorks NZ Limited is currently in receivership. The company said it was disappointed the distributor of Home and Away had chosen to cancel its contract and grant the show’s license to TVNZ.
Facebook sued over Eminem song
Eminem’s song publisher is suing Facebook and an ad agency, saying they copied music from one of the rapper’s songs. Eight Mile Style filed a federal lawsuit in Detroit on Monday alleging that a 30-second Facebook ad broadcast online last month copied music from Eminem’s 2000 song Under the Influence.

A man was arrested at the Cannes film festival after firing a starting pistol during a live TV broadcast on the palm-lined waterfront, sending actors Christoph Waltz and Daniel Auteuil running for cover. French TV station Canal+ was interviewing Austria’s Oscar-winning Waltz and French actor Auteuil live on its nightly news show from a beach-front set before a crowd of spectators when a man fired two shots into the air.
