Pato nets double as Milan win Bernabeu thriller

Brazilian Alexandre Pato scored twice as AC Milan stunned Real Madrid 3-2 in a thriller at the Bernabeu to get their Champions League Group C challenge back on track. Madrid took a 19th minute lead when Milan goalkeeper Dida dropped Esteban Granero`s head-high shot, despite appearing to have it under control, and an alert Raul nicked the ball away from the Brazilian before side-footing into an empty net for the 66th Champions League goal of his career.

Kaka unveiled as Real Madrid’s number eight

Brazilian playmaker Kaka was officially presented as a Real Madrid player, after being handed the number eight jersey in front of thousands of supporters and a huge media contingent at the club’s Bernabeu stadium on Tuesday evening. An estimated 50,000-strong crowd, almost three times the anticipated number, turned up to watch the ceremony as Kaka was unveiled as Madrid’s latest addition by club president Florentino Perez and honorary president Alfredo di Stefano. Latest transfer gossip and rumors Kaka, who completed his medical earlier in the day having landed in the Spanish capital in the morning, has penned a six-year contract and has cost Madrid a reported 56 million euros ($79m).

Ronaldo in clear over high-speed car smash

Cristiano Ronaldo has escaped punishment over the car smash earlier this year that saw his Ferrari written off. The Manchester United star, who is set to move to Real Madrid for a world record fee, demolished the front of his high-performance sports car after he hit a roadside barrier in a tunnel on a freeway in the north-west of England city.

Cristiano Ronaldo moved to end speculation about his Manchester United future by dropping a clear hint that he intends to stay at Old Trafford. The World Player of the Year has been consistently linked with a switch to Real Madrid and looked set for a move to the Bernabeu last summer before pledging his future to United where he is contracted until 2012. With Florentino Perez pledging to build a new superteam as part of his campaign to be elected Real Madrid club president, inevitably talk has turned to a new bid to sign the Portuguese star.
