Review: Danny Bhoy – Dear Epson

Danny Bhoy – Dear Epson Opera House, Wellington, 30 April Scottish comedian Danny Bhoy has been a regular to the International NZ Comedy Festival for many years now and has never disappointed; but his latest show Dear Epson may well be his best work yet. The premise of the evening is set with the tale of his discovery that the ink of a newly bought printer costs more than the printer itself.

Album review: Sing To The Moon – Laura Mvula

SING TO THE MOON Laura Mvula (Sony) UK soul siren might not have anything particularly unique to say – let’s face it we’ve all heard about a love that didn’t belong – but there is something unique about the way she says (or rather, sings it. Her debut album is full of beautiful phrasing, gospel choir leanings that make for unusual arrangements and a voice that’s pure and resonant in the way that fans of Jill Scott or, dare one say it Nina Simone, might relate too.

A right Rotten performance

Former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon has lived up to his Johnny Rotten stage name, with a horror performance on an Australian TV show including misogynist comments and a Nazi salute. What started as a perfectly ordinary TV interview between the ageing rocker and the gang from Ten’s nightly news and entertainment panel show, The Project, quickly turned ugly.
