Ryan Reynolds: I relied on self-help books

Ryan Reynolds went through a phase of reading “every self-help book” around.

The hunk was named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2010 and is married to gorgeous Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.

However, the 36-year-old actor hasn’t always been so sure of himself.

“When I was in my twenties, I think I read every self-help book and every psychology book I could ever get my hands on,” he laughed to British magazine OK!

“Even when you look at the Eckhart Tolle books, particularly The Power of Now, they stick with you. I keep forcing myself to be here now, and it’s sometimes hard to do.”

Reynolds is often cast as the good-looking lead in romantic films, but he next stars as the voice of animated character Guy in The Croods.

The star is looking forward to showing younger members of his family his latest venture.

“I have so many nieces and nephews that I’ve lost count. I know how enduring these kinds of movies are for them, so I’m excited for them to see it and I’m excited for my future kids to see it,” he smiled.

The actor married 25-year-old Lively towards the end of last year in a super-secret ceremony.

Although they are yet to start a family, Reynolds is already planning ahead.

“When I have kids I’ll probably stop [acting],” he revealed.

“When I have children, I imagine I’ll take a lot of time off and will re-prioritise things in my life.”
