Pics of Apple’s mini iPad surface online

Another day, another leaked image or snippet of information about the iPad mini. As more and more stories emerge, the only questions that remain are when the iPad Mini will make its debut and how much it will cost.

The latest images, posted by the Twitter feed @SonnyDickson, shows that the iPad will have a rear-facing camera and will synch to other devices and power sockets via the lightning connector that debuted on the iPhone 5 in September.

Rumors of this product have been rife across the internet and broadsheet newspapers alike for most of this year, with the Wall Street Journal that Apple has already ordered its component makers to produce 10 million devices for the final quarter of 2012.

While competition has been growing since the launch of the company’s first iPad back in 2010, Apple is still the market leader. The success of Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD tablets prove that there is definitely a market for a smaller, more portable tablet — so the only question is whether or not Apple will be able to compete on price as well as quality. Both the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire retail for less than $200 whereas the cheapest iPad is currently $399.
