Michael Jackson Immortal tour comes to NZ

A world tour featuring the King of Pop will be brought to life in New Zealand this year.

Jackson died in 2009 three weeks ahead of his This Is It tour – a series of 50 concerts to be held at the O2 Arena in London – but a unique performance by Cirque du Soleil will bring the pop star’s music back to life.

Jackson’s estate and Cirque du Soleil teamed up in 2011 to give fans a unique view of the man who transformed pop culture.

Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour will run at Auckland’s Vector Arena from October 30 to November 3.

The show, written and directed by Jamie King, includes 49 international dancers, musicians and acrobats who bring the show to life together with Jackson’s chart-topping hits.

Set in a “fantastical realm”, the show is aimed at lifelong Jackson fans and has the same “underscores of Michael’s global messages of love, peace and unity”.

It first premiered in Montreal in 2011 and has also had runs in North American, Europe and Asia.

Michael Jackson fan club and Cirque Club members will have access to pre-sale tickets online at ticketmaster.co.nz from 9am on Friday.

Tickets range cost $99-$179.
