Harris lashes out at N-word claims

Neil Patrick Harris will happily make gags about his sexuality and gleefully tear apart his past as a child actor.

But there are certain lines he won’t cross: saying the N-word, whether in private or in front of America’s theatre community, is one of them.

The Daily Mail and TMZ accused the How I Met Your Mother star of using the N-word during his opening musical number at the 67th annual Tony Awards.

Harris, who was hosting the awards show for the fourth time, actually said “Bigger” while singing alongside Mike Tyson, but certain people on the web leapt to the wrong conclusion.

TMZ and the Mail joined in but the Mail quickly took down its report after suffering a backlash. However, it has still kept up a video of Harris’s routine with the headline: What does Neil Patrick Harris say during Mike Tyson cameo

TMZ still has its story up although it has started to back peddle, claiming that what Harris said was now “unclear”.

Harris himself responded to the claims via Twitter:

Really, Daily Mail! The N-word That’s your story! I would NEVER be so disrespectful and frankly, neither should you.
