Cory Monteith’s death delays Glee premiere

Cory Monteith’s sudden death has pushed back the premiere of his TV show Glee.

The actor was found dead in a Vancouver, Canada hotel room last weekend. It was confirmed this week a fatal mix of heroin and alcohol led to his death.

Monteith has starred as character Finn Hudson on hit musical dramedy Glee since its 2009 debut.

His Glee castmates, including on-and-off-screen girlfriend Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Jane Lynch, Amber Riley and others, have been publicly mourning Monteith since the sad news broke.

Apparently cast and crew are far too shaken to begin filming the new season on time and the show has been postponed.

“In light of the tragic passing of beloved GLEE cast member Cory Monteith, the series’ executive producers, 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Company have jointly decided to delay the start of production of GLEE until early August,” executives released in a statement.

“Season Five of GLEE will now premiere on Thursday, September 26 on FOX. No further details are available at this time.”

Monteith died at the age of 31.

He had been dating Michele, 26, for more than a year. They were rumoured to be moving into together and Monteith had discussed proposing to Michele shortly before he died.
