Chevy Chase Reportedly Uses N-Word While Complaining About Bigoted ‘Community’ Character

Chevy Chase made it clear he was not happy with his new role.

Chevy Chase has repeatedly made his feelings about “Community,” the NBC show on which he plays a racially insensitive character, abundantly clear. He has called joining the show “a mistake” and noted repeatedly that he doesn’t think it’s funny.

He has also said that he finds himself too gifted a comedic actor for his role as Pierce. “I’ve been too funny in my life to have to play a character who’s … moderately funny,” he said in May.

But reports of a new rant on the “Community” set may mark the high point of Chase’s disgust with the show. Deadline.com reports that the actor was upset by some bigoted lines his character was supposed to say — incensed enough to postulate that next he would have to call the black actors and characters the n-word.

Deadline’s report specifically states that Chase did not direct the slur at African-American castmates Donald Glover or Yvette Nicole.
