The only thing puritanical about English “electronic composer” Jack Barnett and his drummer brother George’s South-end-on Sea musical project is the sometimes stark and strict adherence to experimentation.

And even then it’s not the kind of testing of ideas that are so variable as to be intractable.

On TNP’s third album there are after-echoes of the kind of sounds that 4AD artists such as This Mortal Coil and the Cocteua Twins luxuriated in although Bennett, Jack the elder’s working tapestry is more classical than electronic.

The lovely Spiral recalls the brass ensemble work of Belgian composer Wim Mertens, though the comparisons end with the banked electronics and processed
