Witherspoon and husband arrested


Reese Witherspoon has been charged with disorderly conduct after her husband was arrested for driving under the influence.

Police confirmed to Cover Media James Toth was booked at the Atlanta City Detention Center after he was pulled over in Atlanta, Georgia on suspicion of drink driving. The actress is believed to have been in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

Variety reports Witherspoon was handcuffed at the scene after a verbal altercation with the arresting officer and repeatedly ignoring the officer’s request to stay inside the vehicle.

According to the publication the actress was arrested and booked on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Atlanta police were unable to confirm the actress’ arrest at press time.

Lieutenant Washington of the Atlanta City Detention Center said Toth was held for “a few hours” before making bond the same day.

The CAA talent agent, who formerly managed Witherspoon, posted bond in the amount of US$1,591.

A police report obtained by Variety details how the actress allegedly resisted as her husband was put under arrest.

“Mrs. Witherspoon asked, ‘Do you know my name’ I answered, ‘No, I don’t need to know your name.’ I then added, ‘right now.’ Mrs. Witherspoon stated, ‘You’re about to find out who I am,'” she is quoted as saying.

“Mrs. Witherspoon also stated, ‘You are going to be on national news.’
