Torso of Woman Found in Niagara River – Had No Head, Limbs

Niagara Regional Police asked Friday for the public’s help in identifying the woman whose dismembered body was found in the Canadian portion of the Niagara River.

A dismembered female torso was found floating in the Niagara River on Wednesday. The victim, whom has had a C-section at least once, is said not to be Guang Hua Liu, police say the murders seem at this point to be unrelated. Final autopsy findings are predicted to be released on Friday.

The dismembered body of a woman has been found in the Niagara River, police in Canada said.

The torso, which had no head or limbs, was spotted by citizens on Wednesday and recovered by the Niagara Parks Police near the Rainbow Bridge near Niagara Falls. Preliminary postmortem results indicated the woman was middle-aged, police said, and had at least one cesarean section and had her fallopian tubes tied.

Authorities said the homicide was unrelated to another case where the body parts of a woman named Guang Hua Liu were found in several places. Her torso is still missing.

Police expect the full results of an autopsy to be released Friday.
