“The Big Bang Theory” Star Mayim Bialik Hospitalized after Car Accident

 

Mayim Hoya Bialik is an American actress best known for her roles as Blossom Russo on NBC’s Blossom and as Amy Farrah Fowler on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory” co-star Mayim Bialik, best known for her long-running NBC sitcom “Blossom,” was in a serious car accident on Wednesday.

Mayim suffered  a severe injury to her left thumb and taken to Cedar Sinai Hospital midday Wednesday.

According to TMZ accident happened while Bialik was travelling in a Volvo in Los Angeles. The actress was struck by another car full of tourists. The tourists were not cited by the police.

She was driving her white Volvo at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea when the collision occurred. Bialik was on her way to a family lunch for her youngest son’s birthday, a source told the Daily News.

People  quotes LAPD Sergeant Monte Houze as saying, “From what I was told, there was a lot of blood at the scene.”

Bialik, a mother of two, holds a Ph.D in neuroscience from UCLA.  She is best known for her long-running NBC sitcom “Blossom,” and she just received  an Emmy nomination for her “Big Bang” role as Sheldon’s girlfriend Amy Farrah Fowler

Her official website writes that “she is the celebrity spokesperson for the Holistic Moms Network, a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting holistic and green parenting and living.”

TMZ reported that the damage was so severe that at first it seemed that Bialik, 36, might lose a finger. The gossip site reported that Bialik’s “finger was almost completely severed … it was just hanging there.”

However, Bialik is not at risk of losing a finger. While the hand will not be fully functional for a while, she will be fine, said the source, and at present doctors are just making sure her finger isn’t broken.
