Pakistan says rebel blamed in Iran attack is in Afghanistan

Pakistan denied Wednesday that it is harboring a Sunni rebel leader accused of orchestrating a suicide attack in neighboring Iran. Tehran has vowed “a crushing response” to the Sunni rebel group Jundallah for Sunday’s suicide bombing in Sistan-Baluchestan province that killed 42 people.

Schools across Pakistan close after deadly suicide blasts

Authorities have closed all educational institutions across the county until at least the end of the week, following twin suicide bombings at an Islamic university on Tuesday. By Wednesday, the death toll from the attacks at Islamabad’s International Islamic University had climbed to six.

Unrest continues for third day in East Jerusalem

Israeli police on Tuesday arrested Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Islamic movement in Israel, in the third consecutive day of unrest in East Jerusalem, police said. Salah, an Israeli-Arab and former mayor of the Haifa District city of Umm el-Fahm, was arrested in Wadi Joz in East Jerusalem and was being questioned by police for incitement, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmulik ben Rubi said.

Al Qaeda’s second-in-command slams the “smiling Obama” and threatens attacks in the latest video posted on radical Islamist Web sites. Ayman al-Zawahiri uses the message to eulogize Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi, an accused terrorist who said he was tortured into making a false connection between al Qaeda and Iraq.
