The Dutch veteran also took the 30-year-old English record from Steve Death last week. Death’s name, with all due respect to the former Reading custodian, is not up there with the game’s greats.

Allied Irish Banks hit by $81M loans scam

Britain’s Serious Fraud Office and London police are investigating an alleged $81 million (£56 million) fraud on the corporate banking department of Allied Irish Banks (AIB). The SFO said it had searched a business and two residential addresses in London and believed AIB was not the only financial institution deceived by the suspects. It said that between 2003 and 2007 AIB, Ireland’s largest bank by market value, loaned money for the purchase of UK investment properties to companies controlled by an individual who was now the main suspect

Grand slam triumph for champions Ireland

Ronan O’Gara’s late drop goal gave Ireland their first grand slam in 61 years as they were crowned Six Nations champions with a dramatic 17-15 victory over Wales in Cardiff. In the final minute of the match, Welsh flyhalf Stephen Jones had the chance to win it for the home side but his long-range penalty fell agonizingly short to spark emotional celebrations by the Irish. Report: Air passengers ‘out of pocket’ over missing bags

Airlines are failing to adequately compensate passengers for lost and missing bags, according to industry rights group the Air Transport Users Council (AUC). The AUC says many passengers are left “out of pocket” because there’s no financial or legal imperative for airlines to offer a decent payout.
