Album review: Clawhammer – Bannerman

CLAWHAMMER Bannerman (Rhythmthod) Three albums into a solo career under the guise of Bannerman, but better known to his mum and friends as Richie Setford, one of New Zealand’s most invigorating and satisfying artists has produced an album that you want to righteously declare belongs in every music collection. Clawhammer features an eclectic cast of characters including Hollie Fullbrook and Alice Crowe and right from the get-go on Another Light lyrics – “these are uncertain times, I have left my courage behind” – that leave you gasping for air.

MTV reality TV star found dead

A cast member of MTV reality show “Buckwild” was found dead in rural West Virginia after being reported missing by family members following a late-night session in a local bar. Shain Gandee, 21, was found dead in a car along with two other men including his uncle David on Monday morning in Sissonville, Kanawha County, a spokeswoman for County Commissioner Kent Carper told Reuters

Seth Meyers says he’ll man ‘SNL’ Update desk alone

Seth Meyers will remain the lone talking head on the “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update desk, at least in the near future, according to the comedian. “It looks like for right now, we’re going to stick with doing it solo,” Meyers, said Monday in New York, as he was getting ready for the show’s 35th season premiere on September 26.

Smuggler with broken leg wears cocaine cast

Spanish police arrested a man arriving at Barcelona’s airport from Chile after determining that the cast on his fractured left leg was made of cocaine, the Interior Ministry said in a statement Friday. The 66-year-old Chilean man had an actual fracture of two bones below the knee, but the police suspect that he, or accomplices, may have intentionally fractured it, so that the cocaine cast could be applied

NZ PM’s mishap is lucky break for charity

An Internet auction to sell off the plaster cast that New Zealand Prime Minister John Key wore when he broke his right arm has raised close to NZ$ 20,000 for charity. The online auction ended Sunday with a winning bid of NZ$18,500 (US$ 9,362), according to the New Zealand shopping Web site TradeMe, which conducted the bidding. The prime minister broke his arm in two places on January 17 when he tripped on some stairs at a Chinese New Year event in Auckland
