Michael Jackson to make ‘announcement’ in London

Michael Jackson may soon return to the stage, at least for a "special announcement." The pop star has scheduled a news conference Thursday at London’s O2 arena, the same venue where Prince sold out 21 nights in 2006, according to London’s Outside Organisation. Although the short statement announcing Jackson’s news conference did not reveal any details, Britain’s Sky News reported Wednesday that the 50-year-old King of Pop has agreed to a series of summer concerts at the O2. Rumors have circulated for years about a possible Jackson concert comeback, just as speculation has abounded about his physical and financial health.

Dodgers field almost 7,000 seekers for 500 part-time jobs

The long lines of parked cars outside Dodger Stadium could have been the typical sign of an afternoon game featuring the Boys in Blue. But the massive crowd of cars at the stadium during the weekend had more to do with income than infield plays. A two-day job fair to fill some 500 part-time jobs during the baseball season, from stadium security to hawking beer during the games, attracted nearly 7,000 applicants.

Pig liver dish in China sickens 14

A dish of stir-fried pig’s liver served at a dinner party in Guangzhou, China, poisoned 14 people with what authorities think was an animal feed additive, a Chinese state-run news agency reported. Investigators made 52 arrests in overnight raids in California, Minnesota and Maryland, increasing to more than 750 the number of suspects detained in the coast-to-coast operation to disrupt the Sinaloa cartel, Holder said.
