Like white picket fences and perfectly manicured lawns, garden gnomes those colorful residents of front yards the world over are icons of the suburban ideal: quaint, cheerful and totally inoffensive. But in Germany, one little gnome is stirring up big trouble. In a case that pits art against the country's anti-Nazi laws, prosecutors in the south German city of Nuremberg launched an investigation last week after a gnome giving the Hitler salute was put on display in ...

There is no concert and the only music heard will be the tinny sound of portable speakers blaring Michael Jackson's greatest hits. But event organizers expect thousands of the singer's fans to converge on the O2 Arena in London Monday to mark what would have been the opening night of the singer's long-awaited comeback, the first in a grueling 50-date "This Is It" concert tour. They will be bringing candles, flowers and photos for an impromptu memorial service organized over ...

The will and the wake. Amid the frenzy of confusing and conflicting information that has followed the death of Michael Jackson, Wednesday began with clarity on two fronts. The day ended, however, with more questions than answers. A federal law enforcement official said Wednesday night that the Drug Enforcement Administration had joined Jackson's death investigation, once again fanning speculation that drugs may have been involved in the pop icon's passing. Earlier in the day, the Jackson family said they would ...
