Springsteen opens concert with Royals

We’re pretty sure he’s seen a diamond in the flesh but that didn’t stop The Boss from opening his Auckland concert with a cover of Lorde’s Royals.

Bruce Springsteen is back in Auckland tonight and 40,000 concert-goers were there to see him open his show with a song by an artist 47 years his junior.

Twitter lit up as The Boss opened the song with a burst of harmonica.

By the end of the now familiar chorus people were clapping and singing along.

The 64-year-old has been touring Australia since early February where he played covers of AC/DC songs and the BeeGees hit Staying Alive.

The recipient of 20 Grammy awards, Springsteen has sold over 120 million albums.

He has a second and final show at Mt Smart, also sold out, tomorrow night.
