Soldier Trades Cigarettes for Injured Dog

While in Afghanistan army sergeant Nick B. came across a dog; covered in mud and its ears and tail hacked off. He didn’t just walk away, he knew he had to try to save this misfortunate mutt. He approached the owner who was willing to trade the dog for a pack of cigarettes and made the deal.

His next move was to win the dogs trust over; he did this by bribing the pooch with sticks of beef jerky. Sergeant Nick then worked out a deal with the Puppy Rescue Mission to transport his new dog, Bohdi, through Afghanistan to his new home in the US.

Nick was reunited with Bohdi in Florida over the weekend; the sergeant is quoted saying “He’s going to have a great life with us”
