So-Called “Bubble Skin Man” is Desperately Seeking a Cure – Before His Children Becomes Affected

Chandra Wisnu is desperately searching for a cure for his skin condition because two of his children have started showing signs.

Chandra Wisnu has a rare skin disorder that showed no signs until later in life. He now is seeking a cure as he fears the same may affliction may await his children.

Chandra Wisnu was born into a well-to-do family, privately educated and handsome. He was, by all means, quite a catch. He married a lovely village girl.

Even as early as then, he had a few bumps forming on his back that his wife paid little to no attention to. But, the small, pink, bubble like tumors began spreading. The now 57-year-old Indonesian man said he began living his life as a recluse, locked away in his home.

He tells the interviewer that when he did go out he would wear 2-3 jackets, and dark glasses so he wouldn’t scare children and adults who thought they could catch what was afflicting him. “People are afraid, they are frightened of my horrible face and worried they might catch the disease,” he said “So instead I avoid people, I rarely go out except to pick up my daughter from school. And when I do I cover my head and my face because I don’t want my daughter’s friends to bully her for having ‘the dad with the horrible face’.”

Wisnu’s wife still considers him handsome, he says he is grateful to have found his soul mate and that for a time he was worried she was going to leave him.

Although he had no idea what was to come, his condition began showing signs at age 19 and by 23 it had spread across his back. At 32 the skin condition had taken over his entire body. When he was younger, his parents had taken him to see several dermatologist, all who were left baffled by the tiny bubble-like bumps, “I was just told to see one dermatologist after another because they did not know how to treat me.”

Dealing with his affliction has been difficult, but now he is determined to fin a cure, as two of his children are showing signs of the disease.
