Shane Warne confirms he is single

Shane Warne says he is “definitely single” and rumours about him being romantically involved with anyone are “rubbish”.

Warne appeared on TV show Sunrise on Wednesday morning and said that although he has split from fiance Elizabeth Hurley, the pair remain friends.

“I’m single. I’m not seeing anyone, not dating anyone, I haven’t got the hots for anyone,” Warne went on to tell Triple M Melbourne that same day.

He also scoffed at rumours of a new romance with lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone.

“If I catch up for lunch with someone or have a business meeting like the other day with someone, it’s absolutely rubbish what they write,” said Warne.

Uk tabloid The Sun has claimed that the former cricketer spent a romantic few hours with Mone in her hotel room in London on February 15, showering Mone with roses and champagne.

Warne reportedly then went to London to see Hurley, and spent Valentines Day with her at their mansion in Hertfordshire.

Rumours have been circulating for months about Warne’s love life, and former fast bowler says he is glad his kids understand that rumours in magazines and tabloids about him are untrue.

“The good thing is, the kids, when I speak to them all the time they don’t believe any of that stuff,” said Warne.

Shane Warne tweeted about his frustration with the media on Monday.

Rumours of a split have been ongoing since September last year, when the usual flurry of tweets between the couple trickled to a stop.

Reports then surfaced again in December that Hurley and Warne had split for good.

According to a report in UK magazine Hello!, a close source to the couple said “there were just too many issues in the way” of the romance.

“Elizabeth is taking it one day at a time. She will always be extremely fond of Shane,” the source is quoted as saying.

A somewhat mysterious and philosophical tweet by Warne in early December was scrutinised for confirmation of the break-up.

The couple, nicknamed Shurley, were forced to deny that their relationship was over in September when both tweeted hints that their engagement was on the rocks.

Hurley had tweeted that “recent events” were “too raw and personal to share right now”.

Meanwhile, Warne tweeted: “Yes, we’re sorting through some [private] issues. But we’re not throwing the towel in yet”.

The couple, who became engaged in September 2011, were pictured together in November at the launch of the Shane Warne Foundation’s Ambassador Program, but Hurley had reportedly stopped wearing her sapphire engagement ring.
