Prizes for Shopping film

Shopping, a coming-of-age story set on the Kapiti Coast, was the big winner at tonight’s New Zealand Film Awards picking up a seven-gong haul.

Set in the 1980s the film was directed by former Kapiti residents Mark Albiston and Louis Sutherland and picked up awards for best film, best director, best screenplay, best supporting actor and actress, best cinematography and best poster design.

The film adaptation of Wellington writer Lloyd Jones’ Man Booker Prize shortlisted novel Mr Pip also fared well – the film’s star Hugh Laurie got best actor and it also picked up Moas for best actress, best score and best costume design.
