Phoenix Foundation break out the suits

A rare opportunity to wear a suit and catch up with friends in the industry is what The Phoenix Foundation’s Sam Scott is looking forward to at tonight’s New Zealand Music Awards.

The indie rock band is nominated for Best Group, as well as Album of the Year and Best Alternative Album for Fandango, released earlier this year.

The Phoenix Foundation has already won Best Producer for Fandango, their fifth studio album, and first double album.

While the music industry has changed a lot since the band first started out, all the members are still able to work solely doing music.

“Chris is off playing drums with Neil Finn in America at the moment which is pretty awesome.

“Everyone does various music things to make ends meet, but all of us are just making music, so I think we’re pretty lucky.”

The 48th annual Recorded Music NZ Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards ceremony, hosted by Stan Walker and four-time Tui Award host Shannon Ryan will be held at Auckland’s Vector Arena tonight.
