Miley Cyrus releases steamy new video

There is no wrecking ball. No cranes, jackhammers or even adjustable wrenches. Indeed there’s no licking of any sort of building/industrial tools. But don’t worry fans of the most famous tongue in pop music since Gene Simmons of Kiss horrified delicate souls 35 years ago, in her new filmclip Miss Miley Cyrus licks aplenty.

There’s her thumb, her palm, her fingers, a gauze curtain and of course her lips. And then repeat.

With this slow, rhythmic and – let’s not deny it – appealing song, in case it hadn’t already been made clear with her Thicke twerking and close encounter with the wrecking ball, Cyrus reminds us that she hasn’t just had sex, she’s enjoyed it. And intends enjoying it again.

That of course won’t do for any young woman in our clucking, prurient and simultaneously prim society, let alone for a former Disney star. This is true even if male rock and rap acts, or the likes of the slimy child fancier R. Kelly, can revel in it. Naturally we have to condemn her, though you have to think the inordinate amount of ink, web hours and online reviewing space which has devoted to it says more about us than Cyrus.

Meanwhile, in Adore You, Cyrus in a flesh toned bra and knickers on a bed, then black lace dress in a bath (hey, don’t we all) rolls around, vamps for the video camera she has beside her, rubs herself, lets her fingers hint at sliding under the elastic band of her underwear, bites flesh and sucks her thumb.

There’s just about every cliche of sexual suggestion and far less subtlety than the song manages. But subtlety is not the point is it Why be subtle when the smack upside the collective community head has worked a treat. After all, we’re talking/reading about her right now aren’t we And in case you miss it in the confected disgust or outrage now coming, it’s not a bad song at all.
