Man dies on trip won on Ellen

A couple’s dream holiday turned into a nightmare when a marine died in a parachute accident on a trip his wife won on the Ellen show.

Cherilyn McGraw won the trip to Australia on Ellen in January 2012, and went last week with her husband, Gunnery Sergeant Brandon McGraw, who had been on three tours of duty with the Marine Corps.

The couple went up in the same plane on Saturday, with Cherilyn making a tandem jump and experienced jumper Brandon following solo.

Just before Brandon landed, his parachute turned sharply left, then right, and crashed to the ground, an employee from Euroa Skydive reportedly said.

By the time paramedics reached him, Brandon was reportedly in cardiac arrest.

Cherilyn posted a message on Facebook with photos taken inside the plane before the jump, saying: “My hero. My angel. These are truly such symbolic photos. He was happy and doing what he loved.”
