Lil Wayne released from hospital

Lil Wayne is out of the hospital, according to his Young Money associate Mack Maine.

Mack Maine told his Twitter followers on Monday night that the multiplatinum rapper had left Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, where he had been hospitalised since last week.

Mack Maine tweeted his thanks to the hospital and said Lil Wayne had officially been released and was headed home. He added: “God is great.”

According to TMZ the rapper is suspected of overdosing on prescription drug codeine following a “Sizzurp binge”.

The concoction, also known as Purple Drank, includes prescription-strength cough syrup as its primary ingredient.

According to the website, his stomach was pumped at least three times before he began experiencing a series of “severe and violent seizures”.

Well wishes have meanwhile poured in for the star, with many celebrities paying Wayne visits.

Nicki Minaj and Drake are among the stars who are said to have visited the musician’s bedside.

Amidst conflicting reports about his health last Friday, Wayne took to Twitter to rubbish reports he was near-death.

“I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love (sic),” he wrote.

The health scare is not Wayne’s first.

He suffered two seizures during a flight last October. He later revealed he was prescribed medication by his doctor to treat the condition.
